Garage/ Family Room Addition In Woodstock Ga
Why Add an Addition To Your Woodstock Home?
Sometimes moving just isn’t an option, but what do you do when you are running out of space? Many growing families are faced with the tough decision either to find a new home or make the one they have work for them. The hit show Love It or List It deals with this exact issue. For one family in Woodstock, Georgia, the choice was easy; they loved their home. The schools are great, and Cherokee County is an ideal place to raise a family.
The family had outgrown their home and needed more space. The lot was perfect, and the location was convenient to area shopping and work in Atlanta. After working with an architect to come up with their plans, Fowler Homes was hired to bring their plans to life.

The first phase of this whole house remodel was to demo the existing deck and grade the lot for future improvements. Also, we cut two openings in the existing basement walls to accommodate access from the garage and a new bathroom. Because the family had small children living in the home during the entire remodeling process, jobsite safety was of the utmost importance. The jobsite was cleaned daily, and temporary partitions were installed between the existing living space and the new addition
Foundation and Slab
The best homes in the world are worthless if they are built on a weak foundation. If you doubt this fact, check out the Veggie Tales episode with Larry and Bob as builders. We installed new plumbing for the half-bath downstairs and poured the slab.
Framing, Roof, Siding and Deck
The next phase in the addition process was framing the structure. We also built a new front porch, and this meant tying into the existing structure and roof. To ensure that the new addition and existing home looked seamless, we replaced the entire roof with Certainteed Landmark roof shingles and installed new fiber cement siding.
Finally, and to the delight of the homeowners, we finished the interior. After many long days of contractors working all over their home, we left the customers with a completely remodeled living space and room to grow. New fixtures were installed throughout home. For the flooring, large tiles were used as a durable and easy-to-clean solution in the main living area, laundry room and bathrooms.
With each job that Fowler Homes completes, we strive to deliver quality and value. After all punch lists were completed and final inspections were performed, we turned over the new addition to these Woodstock homeowners for their enjoyment.
